The Drama and Improv Club will give 4th-6th grade students an opportunity to show off their talents in acting, movement, voicing, and art. Actors/actresses will learn how to project their voices, perform short scripts, learn basic movement for the stage, read with expression, and most importantly, to have fun together! Additional topics will include history of theater, use of a green screen, musical theater, auditioning tips/tricks, and many other skills. Members will work together as a team to prepare and present informal short plays and skits to be performed in front of a green screen to be viewed together as a class.
The Drama Club will be taught and managed by Mrs. Eve Welte. Mrs. Hall will be on hand to help out with rehearsals and filming.
When scheduled to meet, the Club will meet after school on Thursday afternoons from 2:45-3:45pm. Students will wait in the cafeteria until the instructors gather the group and takes them to the designated practice area.
It will be offered in two sessions to allow as many students the opportunity to participate:
*Session 1: 9/6/18 to 11/15/18
*Session 2: 1/31/19 to 4/11/19
Desired Club Member Character Traits:
- Must have a good attitude, a willingness to learn, and ability to work cooperatively with peers
- Must be responsible and regularly attend club meetings
- Must maintain appropriate grades
No auditions are needed. Applications will be offered at the front desk after school begins. In addition, announcements will be made for interested students to pick up an application at the front desk. Applicants will return the permission forms to either your homeroom teacher or Mrs. Welte (room 314) no later than Friday, August 17th. Assigned sessions will be distributed the following week. If you have a preferred session, please indicate it on the following application form, otherwise one will be selected for you at random. Returning the enclosed application as quickly as possible is strongly advised, as there is a student cap of 30 students per session; first come first serve!
